S-League Preview

Caught Offside takes a look at what’s coming up in  Round 20 of the S-League

Albirex Niigita face the daunting task of a trip to the Clementi stadium this week, as the White Swans face League leaders Tampines Rovers.

The Japanese satellite side are eight points behind Rovers who have a game in hand, so to have any chance of clinching the title, Niigita must beat The Stags.

For Tampines even a draw is enough to make them Champions.

Fourth place Balestier Khalsar could jump to third if Darren Stewart’s Tigers can ground out a victory against Brunei DPMM.

As well as the match that potentially decides the Championship, there are also significant games being played at the other end of the table.

As struggling Hougang United host 10th place Warriors, if the Cheetahs can snatch victory at the Hougang stadium they can haul themselves to just one point behind their rivals.

Geylang International who could be dragged into a bottom of the table dogfight should they fail to beat Woodlands Wellington, who in turn could snatch fourth position if results above them go their way.

Third placed Tajong Pagar could snatch second, if as predicted they brush aside bottom of the pile Courts Young Lions, who after 19 games have just three points under their belts.

On Sunday the League Leaders play again, travelling to Bruneii DPMM for their game in hand.
