Arsene Wenger Wants Transfer Hungry Fans To Back Off

Gunners boss claims to know what he’s doing.Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has called for angry fans to calm down by insisting that there is still plenty of time to bring in the necessary additions that the squad need, the Mirror reports.

Wenger recently became embroiled in a row with Newcastle manager Alan Pardew after he came in for criticism for his pursuit of Yohan Cabaye, but he insisted that he had done nothing wrong by saying; “I don’t have to explain myself to anyone.”

The Gunners face a tough Champions League qualifier against Turkish club Fenerbahce this week which could already be make or break in the club’s season, and he has claimed that he is fed up with those who have been so quick to criticise.

“I would just like to reiterate to you that in the last 16 years we have been very successful with transfers,” he said.

“And if you look at the players who will play here, they are top quality players. And you should never forget that.

“Do not always think that what is outside is better than what you have. What is important is to rate what you have and our fans have to understand that.”

Wenger also insisted that the side still have time to bring in a number of players still on his wish list – including Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney and Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

Arsenal are holding talks with Valencia’s Vicente Guaita, they have also got Espanyol’s Kiko Casilla on their radar, but there is a determination to make one last push for Begovic. If they cannot persuade Stoke to sell the 26-year-old, they will most likely go for Guaita, also 26.
