PSG Not Currently In Chase For Newcastle United Midfielder Yohan Cabaye

Arsenal target still on course for Emirates move.

Arsenal’s proposed move for Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye is not currently under threat from PSG, according to ESPN.

It was thought that the big-spending French giants could look to hijack Cabaye’s move to the Emirates Stadium, after identifying the 27-year-old as one of their main targets this summer.

Arsenal made an opening offer of around £10million for Cabaye on Monday, which was rejected by an angry Alan Pardew, who slammed the timing of the offer as a distracted Cabaye sat out his side’s opening day defeat to Manchester City.

The Gunners are expected to bid closer to £20million next time, with the Magpies demanding big money for their star player, and it was thought that PSG could use their significant financial muscle to bid higher and beat Arsenal to Cabaye’s signature.

However, this is not currently the case, and Arsenal may indeed be alone in pursuing Cabaye, whose fine form has also seen him linked with Manchester United and Monaco over the last few months.

Arsene Wenger is keen to strengthen his squad before the end of the transfer window, with rivals Tottenham undergoing some major strengthening this summer in a bid to overtake them for a place in the top four.
