9. Michu (Swansea City)
Michu is yet to get off the mark in the Premier League this season, but it would be difficult to write him off as a serious Golden Boot contender after his fantastic performances last season. Arriving as a relatively unknown quantity from Rayo Vallecano for just £2million, the Spaniard went on to score 18 times in the Premier League. His form dipped towards the end of the campaign as Swansea arguably lost their way a bit following something of a post-Capital One Cup hangover, but if he can maintain his prolific form more consistently this year, there’s no reason he can’t surpass 20 league goals, which would give him a real chance of finishing as the country’s top scorer, as the average required to win the Golden Boot since the start of the Premier League is 24.35.
