Emirates Stadium side look to bring in young French international
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is preparing to join the race to sign unhappy PSG defender Mamadou Sakho according to Sports Direct News.
Having seen Laurent Koscielny suffer both a suspension and an injury in his first two matches this term, and with Thomas Vermaelen also out, the Gunners boss is keen to bring in defensive reinforcements before the transfer window slams shut and is especially keen on French international Sakho due chiefly to his ability to ply his trade at left-back if needed.
Given that Kieran Gibbs and Bacary Sagna have both suffered lengthy lay-offs in the recent past such an adaptability is a further bonus though Arsenal must see off interest from Liverpool who have been linked with a move for the 23 year old for some time.
Sakho has seen his first team chances limited by the plethora of signings brought in by Ligue 1 big spenders PSG over recent years and Brazilian trio Thiago Silva, Alex and Marquinhos are all ahead of the one club man in the Parc des Princes pecking order.
One wouldn’t imagine PSG would demand a massive fee for the locally born defender and given his years of service, Sakho is into his eighth season in the first team set-up, could well be ready to allow the player leave ‘on the cheap’ though money should be no real issue to Arsenal as Arsene Wenger is yet to spend a single penny of his reported £70m transfer war-chest thus far this summer.
