Old Trafford side keen on German international who could be open to Premier League switch.
Man United are lining up a bid for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan amid talk of the German international being unsettled at the Bundesliga club according to Sports Direct News.
The highly rated 22 year old has been a key performer at the Westfalenstadion over the past two seasons, being especially effective during Jurgen Klopp’s sides run to the Champions League final last term, and Gundogan is stalling on signing a new deal which has seemingly alerted David Moyes.
Gundogan’s current deal expires in 2015 and is now thinking long and hard over his future and is now sidelined with a back injury and has seen Nuri Sahin impress in his stead and this source believes that Man United could pick up the midfielder though Borussia Dortmund would apparently be looking for around £25m for his services.
Man United have of course already successfully completed one recent Borussia Dortmund raid, bringing in Japanese international Shinji Kagawa a year ago, and could feel they have a chance at repeating the trick.
Moyes’s midfield does perhaps lack a strong tackling presence and as well as being able to offer plenty of steel Gundogan is a force going forward and an excellent distributor of the ball. Having see Borussia Dortmund’s star performers leave the club in recent seasons, most recently in the case of Mario Gotze electing to join domestic rivals Bayern Munich, the former Nurnberg man may be tempted by a possible move to Old Trafford.
