Done Deal: AS Monaco Complete Deal to Sign Sevilla Midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia

Kondogbia is regarded as one of the best young midfielders in Europe and had been attracting interest from some of the continents biggest clubs before his move to Monaco.

Monaco have announced that they have completed the signing of Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, Sky Sports reports.

The midfielder has signed a five year deal with the big spending French club after buying out his contract with Sevilla, enabling him to move Monaco.

Kondogbia joined Sevilla from Lens last summer and impressed during his year with the Spanish club.

His fine performances for Sevilla had attracted the interest of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Real Madrid and Arsenal.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is known to have admired Kondogbia greatly and will be frustrated to miss out on yet another transfer target.

Kondogbia will remain with Monaco until at least 2018, demonstrating the ambition of the French side as they try and challenge Paris St Germain for the Ligue 1 title this season.

Monaco have spent big this summer following their promotion to Ligue 1, signing the likes of Falcao from Atletico Madrid and Joao Moutinho from FC Porto.

It is hoped that by filling the team with big name stars, Monaco can become one of European football’s powerhouses.
