Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers hope to welcome in French international.
Liverpool are on the verge of winning the race to sign PSG defender Mamadou Sakho according to Sports Direct News.
The 23 year old has fallen down the Parc des Princes pecking order with Brazilian trio Thiago Silva, Alex and Marquinhos all moving in front of the French international in Laurent Blanc’s first team set-up.
Brendan Rodgers has apparently convinced Sakho to opt for a move to Anfield over a move to AC Milan, who are also said to be keen on acquiring his services.
With Kolo Toure suffering a serious groin injury and Sebastian Coates facing the entire season on the sidelines with a knee problem the Liverpool manager is clearly keen to bring in a new centre back and are apparently set to see a £15m bid for the player accepted.
Liverpool have had a busy summer bringing in Simon Mignolet, Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto and the aforementioned Toure, the cost of these four additions has been more than covered by the sales of Stewart Downing, Jonjo Shelvey and Andy Carroll.
Sakho has made 196 appearances for PSG and has 14 French national team caps to his name.
