Both sides will be looking to pick up their first victories of the season against each other here in what will surely be an open, end-to-end encounter.

Palace boss Ian Holloway is still looking to add new additions to his squad with the likes of William Gallas, Reading winger Jimmy Kebe and West Ham’s wantaway striker Ricardo Vaz Te all mooted as targets.

He will need them too, especially considering the side’s current injury woes. Yannick Bolasie (hamstring) is sidelined for the foreseeable future, as is Jonathan Parr (ankle) whilst Glenn Murray (knee) and Patrick McCarthy (groin) are both long-term absentees.

Sunderland duo Lee Cattermole and Wes Brown (both knee) could  make timely returns for the match, but out-of-favour defender Phil Bardsley (foot) is sidelined indefinitely.

Manager Paolo Di Canio has also confirmed that striker Steven Fletcher will travel with the squad, but whether or not he starts remains to be seen.

Fletcher sustained an ankle injury whilst on international duty for Scotland in March and has not featured for the club since. He scored 11 Premier League goals in 28 appearances last season.
