Everton have agreed to sign experienced FC Porto midfield player Fernando for £15 million as a replacement for the Manchester United-bound Marouane Fellaini, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The big-haired Belgium international is expected to finally complete his protracted £25m move to the Premier League champions before the summer transfer window slams shut for business for the year at midnight on Sept 2, after weeks of haggling between the two clubs.

However, the final hold up in the attacking midfield player’s move to Old Trafford has been caused by the Merseyside giants’ own search for a replacement for Fellaini, but with a deal now in place for Fernando, both transfers are expected to go through before the cut-off time on Monday night.

Everton head coach Roberto Martinez first had to agree a suitable fee with the Portuguese champions for the former Brazil Under-20 international, who has a contract at the Dragao that currently runs until only next summer.

And that is why the Merseyside giants have been able to secure the defensive midfield player’s signature for just 15m euros, when the buy-out clause in his contract with Porto is valued at a whopping 30m euros.
