Redknapp teams up with Cameroon full back once again in the capital.
Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers sealed the capture of Tottenham Hotspur defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto on a season-long loan just before the summer transfer window was due to close at 11pm on transfer deadline day, according to reports on Sportsdirectnews.com.
The Cameroon international had recently been told by Tottenham head coach Andre Villas-Boas that he would not be first-choice left back at White Hart Lane this season, meaning the 29-year-old has been looking for a new club of late.
And now the attacking full back will be reunited once again with his former manager at Loftus Road, ex-Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, who has been looking to bring in a number of experienced top-flight campaigners during the summer transfer window in order to boost the west London club’s hopes of returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking this season.
Assou-Ekotto leaves north London after seven seasons with the club, during which time the player scored five goals in total in his 195 matches in all competitions for Tottenham, which all came in the Premier League, with the Cameroonian announcing his decision to depart on Twitter: “Lets go to QPR! I’ll keep one eyes on u spurs hv a good luck this season #COYS”.
