Left-back remains a top target for David Moyes.
Manchester United manager David Moyes remains determined to sign a left-back, and according to Sports Direct News, will move again for Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao in the January transfer window.
Reports emerged late last night that United would take the Portuguese international on loan for the season, though a deal could not be completed in time before the transfer deadline, to cap a frustrating summer for the Red Devils.
United have also missed out on top targets like Thiago Alcantara and Cesc Fabregas this summer, as well as another left-back Leighton Baines, though there were some positives as they were able to announce a deal had been struck for the signing of Marouane Fellaini from Everton in the last minute.
Fellaini should add some much-needed steel and physicality to United’s midfield, though concerns remain over the lack of a genuine playmaker to replace Paul Scholes, who announced his retirement at the end of last season.
Left-back is a concern too, as evidenced by Moyes’ desire to try again for Coentrao in the winter, and speculation arising at points this summer that current first-choice Patrice Evra could be set to leave the club.
United were also linked with a late move for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, seeing a £35million bid rejected for the German international.
