On loan Getafe man eager to join compatriots in the Premier League.
Swansea City new boy Alvaro Vazquez has revealed that a quick phone call with fellow recent arrival Jordi Amat was enough to convince him to make the move to south Wales, the Daily Mail reports.
The on loan Getafe striker will now join up with the club’s seven other Spaniards and he feels that the time was right to join the club, with so many compatriots lining up alongside him.
“I speak to Jordi very often,” he said.
“As soon as he knew I was coming he rang me and told me it would be a great move. He spoke highly of the club and said I would fit in well here.”
Swansea already had Amat, Chico Flores, Michu, Pablo Hernandez, Jose Canas, Angel Rangel and Alejandro Pozuelo at the club before Vazquez joined, and he hopes that he will be able to fit into a new way of life with the help of his friends.
‘This is a really good opportunity and I will try to make the most of it this season. I know a lot about Swansea, not just the club, but the players as well.
“They have a lot of Spanish players that I was aware of, and of course Michael Laudrup as well.
“I’m also aware of the great season that they had last year and now they are playing in the Europa League as well. I have never played in that competition and I’m really looking forward to it.”
