Real Madrid star pleased to have faith from Ancelotti.
Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria is pleased to have stayed with the club this season despite rumours of his possible departure throughout much of the summer, according to Sky Sports.
The Argentine suffered a slight dip in form for Los Blancos last season as the team as a whole endured a difficult season, and it was thought that he could be one of several names on the way out of the club as they looked to revamp their squad.
Late on in the transfer window, Di Maria seemed to attract strong interest from Premier League side Arsenal, who were also linked with his team-mate Karim Benzema, although in the end it was Real’s German international playmaker Mesut Ozil that made the move to the Emirates Stadium on deadline day.
Di Maria could find his place in the starting lineup is increasingly under threat this season, with the club bringing in two big signings in Isco and Gareth Bale, both of whom can play in the same position as the former Benfica man.
However, Di Maria is happy with life at the Bernabeu and has thanked the manager Carlo Ancelotti for keeping him around this summer, saying: “Yes, I will be staying at Real Madrid. I have the confidence of the coach, I am very happy and my family also, which is the most important thing.”
Gonzalo Higuain and Kaka were two other notable players to head for the Real Madrid exit door this summer, though the likes of Luka Modric and Sami Khedira stuck around, despite also being linked with moves away.
