Arsenal & Manchester United Target Set To Sign New Contract

Atletico Madrid star seems set to stay put despite Premier League interest.

Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan looks set to disappoint his numerous suitors in the Premier League by putting pen-to-paper on a new contract extension with the Spanish club, according to talkSPORT.

The talented left-sided Turkish international has been a key performer for Diego Simeone’s side since joining the club in 2011, and had been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool at points in this summer’s transfer window, though a move to England never materialised.

Turan was even in talks over a late move to United on deadline day, though the necessary paperwork could not be completed in time, and he now looks happy to commit his future to the La Liga outfit.

His new deal will see his release clause with the club rise from £29m to £34m, meaning Atletico will be in a stronger negotiating position if clubs come in for the 26-year-old again.

However, they will be hoping they can keep Turan in the team, as they look to build a squad capable of challenging the top two in Spain. Despite losing star striker Radamel Falcao this summer, they were able to bring in some strong replacements to their squad in David Villa and Toby Alderweireld.
