Fiorentina believe they are first choice for PSG star.
Fiorentina technical director Eduardo Macia believes the club could win the race for PSG starlet Marco Verratti ahead of the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid, according to talkSPORT.
The 20-year-old joined the Ligue 1 giants last summer after impressing for Serie B side Pescara, where his displays had seen him compared to Juventus and Italy midfield star Andrea Pirlo, though he has not managed to find his best form in France.
Still regarded as a top prospect for the future, his situation has attracted interest from giants of European football such as Manchester United and Real Madrid, though Macia believes he could make a move to Serie A with Fiorentina.
La Viola are on the look-out for new attacking midfield talent after selling star players Stevan Jovetic and Adem Ljajic this summer, and the signing of Verratti could go some way to filling the void left by their departures.
Macia is confident a move could go through, saying he believes the Italian international is keen on joining the Florence club.
“Verratti? He is a player who wants to play in Florence and our club like him a lot. If Fiorentina continue to grow, another dream will come true,” he said.
Manchester United are now expected to switch their attentions to Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera in the January transfer window.
