Arsenal Target Signals Intention To Leave Ligue 1 In January

Gunners are currently looking for a replacement for Sagna at the Emirates next summer.

Sochaux defender Sebastien Corchia has opened up the possibility of making a move to Premier League side Arsenal when the transfer window reopens for business once again in January, according to reports on talkSPORT.co.uk.

The France Under-21 international has attracted the interests of a whole host of clubs during the recent summer transfer window, including the likes of Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique de Marseille.

However, the 22-year-old opted to remain with Sochaux for this season, although Corchia  has now hinted that his club could be open to the possibility of allowing the right back to leave the Stade Auguste Bonal at the turn of the year, which will have alerted Gunners head coach Arsene Wenger.

The north London club are known to currently be on the look-out for a new right back due to the fact that France international Bacary Sagna’s current contract at the Emirates runs out on June 30 2014, with the player yet to indicate any willingness to put pen to paper on a new deal to remain in the capital beyond next summer.

“I know what I have to do now during matches and I will see what happens in the next windows. But at the moment, I want to work with my club,” Corchia told French sports daily L’Equipe.

“[Leaving in the winter] can be a possibility, Sochaux negotiate with interested clubs. I prefer to focus on the present at the moment.”

Corchia has a contract with Sochaux that lasts until the summer of 2015.
