Gunners to miss out of Romanian international.
Arsenal could be set to miss out on the signing of Romanian international striker Ciprian Marica as Italian giants Fiorentina have now expressed an interest, the Mirror reports.
The Tuscan side are now eyeing the 27-year-old after their summer signing, Mario Gomez, faces a spell on the sidelines after the German striker sustained a partial tear to his knee ligament this weekend.
The Gunners have been linked to Marica since the end of the transfer window, as Arsene Wenger’s proposed shopping spree failed to materialise. He did spend a considerable amount on playmaker Mesut Ozil, but still found himself criticised from certain sections of the club’s supporters and media for not going after the striker they so desperately needed.
Arsenal still have space within their 25-man squad to sign out of contract players and last week rumours that a deal to bring the former Schalke and Stuttgart man to the Emirates was close.
However, the Viola have now placed the striker at the top of their own wish list and will rival the Gunners for his signature, though they are also thought to be looking at former Lazio and Inter Milan striker Tomasso Rocchi, who is also a free agent.
