Both Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United have been put on alert after the agent of coveted Borussia Dortmund front man Robert Lewandowski revealed that he had recently been in discussions with Napoli about a possible move to Serie A for the Pole, according to reports in the Daily Express.

The prolific striker has been attracting the attentions of a whole host of big-name clubs from across the Continent all summer long, although it had been assumed that Lewandowski had already agreed to join Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich at the end of this season.

Lewandowski has a contract with Dortmund that currently runs until June 30 2014 and so the Poland international will be available on a free transfer come next summer.

However, the disclosure that the representative of the 25-year-old’s have been in negotiations with the team from Naples will have given both Chelsea and United new belief that they can now persuade the forward to make the move to the English Premier League next year.

“Napoli on Lewandowski? I can not tell you how long I spoke with Aurelio De Laurentiis. It must remain between us,” Raffaelle Auriemma, the agent of Lewandowski, told Italian radio station CRC.

“But I can tell you that we have recently had contact.

“What do I think of Napoli? They are a tough team to handle.

“Nobody thinks they can win the Champions League, but they have a very good coach in Rafael Benitez, good management and very competitive players.”

Lewandowski has already begun the new Bundesliga form in blistering form in front of goal once again, with the attacker having managed to find the back of the net on four occasions in Dortmund’s opening five league contests so far.
