Borussia Dortmund Striker Robert Lewandowski Confirms He Will Join Bayern Munich Next Season

Pole’s current deal with Dortmund expires in June 2014.

Prolific Borussia Dortmund front man Robert Lewandowski has revealed for the very first time that he will be joining Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on a free transfer next summer, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The in-demand Poland international’s future dominated the entire summer transfer window as a whole host of Europe’s biggest clubs chased the 25-year-old’s signature, including the likes of Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United.

However, in the end Dortmund refused to allow their star man to leave Signal Iduna Park, with head coach Jurgen Klopp instead preferring to keep hold of his forward for this season, the final year of  Lewandowski’s current contract with Dortmund, before then allowing the Pole to leave on a free transfer in June 2014.

And now Lewandowski himself has also confirmed that this will be his final campaign with last season’s Uefa Champions League runners-up, before he moves to the Allianz Arena.

Responding to a direct question about whether he would be able to commit to Dortmund come the turn of the year, Lewandowski told  Sport1: “Yes, because then I can officially sign the contract (with Bayern).”

Players who are entering the final six months of their contracts with a club are then able to freely negotiate with rivals and with the striker’s present deal at Dortmund due to expire on June 30 2014, Lewandowski is therefore able to sign with the Bavarians in January.
