Stamford Bridge side ready to use defender to help land Old Trafford ace.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly ready to use Brazilian defender David Luiz as bait in his continued pursuit of Man United striker Wayne Rooney according to Sports Direct News.
The West London side failed with two bids for the 27 year old striker over the summer but may feel that an offer that includes Luiz could tempt David Moyes given Man United’s recent defensive issues, as evidenced during their 4-1 defeat to local rivals Man City.
Luiz has started just one Premier League fixture this season and as such one could assume that the former Benfica man is not a key part of Mourinho’s plans and therefore very much a bankable asset.
Given Rio Ferdinand’s age and Nemanaja Vidic’s much documented injury concerns Moyes could certainly benefit from the addition of another defensive option though would he be willing to allow Rooney to leave the club given that the England man is perhaps the most in-form player in his squad at present.
Though Wayne Rooney seemingly fell out with his club over the summer he has shown great character to fight his way back into David Moyes’s starting eleven and has scored four goals in his last four games.
Jose Mourinho will be disappointed with the form shown by his strike-force, Samuel Eto’o, Demba Ba and Fernando Torres have scored just one goal between them thus far this season, so it’s likely that the Blues boss will look to rectify this area of his squad in January.
