Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is readying a last gasp bid to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Robert Lewandowski, hoping to beat Bayern Munich to the capture of the Polish international according to Sports Direct News.

The Blues strikers have struggled for form this term, Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Andre Schurrle have all failed to net Premier League goals this term and as such Mourinho appears to be desperate to re-inforce in January and Lewandowski may well be the ideal man to target in the transfer window.

The 25 year old is out of contract next summer and is strongly linked with a move to the Allianz Arena, a move that Borussia Dortmund are keen to avoid having already lost youngster Mario Gotze to Bayern Munich in the summer, therefore Jurgen Klopp’s side could perhaps consider offers from the Premier League side in January.

Lewandowski has scored six Bundesliga goals thus far this season and finished the last two campaigns with a total of 66 goals and is certainly one of the most in-form strikers in European football.

Mourinho opted to loan out Romelu Lukaku to Everton and may well now regret that decision as his side have managed just seven goals in six Premier League fixtures this season.
