Amsterdam giants eyeing up Belgian starlet.
Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax could be about to make a loan bid for Chelsea starlet Kevin De Bruyne in January, according to Sports Direct News.
The 22-year-old is rated as an outstanding prospect after impressing on loan in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen last season, though he has failed to break past many talented players in competition for a spot in Chelsea’s starting lineup this year.
De Bruyne has recently become unsettled at Stamford Bridge and was dropped by Jose Mourinho to the club’s Under-21 squad, casting his future into doubt and attracting the interest of a few teams as January approaches.
Ajax are keen to recruit a new playmaker of his kind after losing Christian Eriksen to Tottenham in the summer, and see De Bruyne as a similarly skillful and creative player.
The Belgian international had also been linked with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen during the summer, as it seemed likely that he would struggle to find a place in the Chelsea team with the likes of Juan Mata, Eden Hazard, Oscar and others all ahead of him in the pecking order.
De Bruyne’s exit could still come a little later than expected, and Ajax would pull off a real coup if they could land this talented youngster.
