Former England international Gareth Barry is in line to make his 500th Premier League appearance as Newcastle arrive at Goodison Park.

Fellow midfielder Darron Gibson is hoping to make his first league start of the season after recovering from a knee injury.

Newcastle trio Yohan Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa and Loic Remy are set to be recalled, having been rested for the midweek League Cup victory over Leeds.

Steven Taylor and Shola Ameobi could also be in line to return after overcoming injury, but Jonas Gutierrez is not likely to feature as he nurses a hamstring problem.

Newcastle have only won one of their last 10 league trips to Goodison Park. That was three years ago, when Hatem Ben Arfa’s stunning 25-yard strike on his full debut proved decisive.

Everton are the Premier League’s only remaining unbeaten side (W3, D3). They have not gone seven matches without defeat from the start of a season since 2006.

Newcastle’s only Premier League away wins since May 2012 have been against Aston Villa (twice) and relegated QPR. They have only managed 16 points from their last 22 away games (W3, D7, L12).
