Bundesliga giants to bring back former star.Borussia Dortmund are hoping to re-sign Japanese playmaker Shinji Kagawa from Manchester United in the January transfer window, according to reports in the Metro.
The 24-year-old has had a difficult time at Old Trafford since making the move from Germany to England last summer, enduring an injury-hit first campaign and then seemingly falling out of favour with new manager David Moyes at United.
With the Premier League champions widely expected to sign a new attacking midfielder during the next transfer window, Kagawa’s time at the club could be up, though he will be welcomed back warmly to his former club Borussia Dortmund.
The Japan international spent two happy seasons with Jurgen Klopp’s side, guiding them to two successive Bundesliga titles and establishing himself as one of the best players in the German league.
However, he seems increasingly unlikely to be given the chance to shine at United, and Dortmund are hoping to pounce on this uncertainty over his future, and may make an opening offer of around £10m for the skillful attacker.
Kagawa would likely favour a return to his old club, where he first made a name for himself in European football.
