Red Devils set sights on Italian international centre-back.Manchester United manager David Moyes has reportedly added Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci to his wanted list ahead of this January’s transfer window, according to Sports Direct News.
The United boss has been chasing a number of defensive additions for some time, with growing fears over the ability of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand to perform at the top level due to their age and recent injury problems.
Ferdinand in particular was found wanting in United’s last two Premier League games, which both ended in highly disappointing defeats first to rivals Manchester City and then at home to West Brom.
United missed out on Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay over the summer in what turned out to be a frustrating transfer window for Moyes, and the Scot will be keen to put things right when the window re-opens in the middle of the season, also being linked with the likes of highly-rated Porto starlet Eliaquim Mangala.
Juve may be reluctant to sell Bonucci, who has been a key player for the club in recent times as they have dominated Italian football, and United will also supposedly consider Porto’s Nicolas Otamendi as another possible option.
