Tottenham Linked With Move to Sign Loaned In Newcastle United Striker Loic Remy

White Hart Lane side keen on French international.

Tottenham are reportedly readying to battle Newcastle United in pursuit of a deal to sign QPR striker Loic Remy according to the Daily Star.

The former Marseille forward is currently enjoying a loan spell at St James’ Park but Andre Villas-Boas will look to lure the French international back to London next summer as he seeks to strengthen his ailing attack.

Villas-Boas spent almost £60m to bring in Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela from Valencia and AS Roma respectively but has seen his White Hart Lane side struggle for goals. Tottenham have scored just six goals in seven Premier League matches thus far this season and a fresh striking option would be a sensible addition to consider.

Remy moved to QPR in January and despite the Loftus Road side finishing rock bottom of the table the 26 year old scored six goals in 13 starts and has taken well to life at Newcastle United, racking up five goals in five Premier League appearances thus far this season.

Any decision Remy makes about his long term future will depend greatly on where both Tottenham and Newcastle United finish the current campaign and clearly if Villas-Boas has secured a coveted top four finish then it’s fairly likely the French forward would be more open to making a move to White Hart Lane.
