Liverpool Consider Allowing Defensive Starlet To Join Valencia In January

Portuguese has not played a single minute of action so far for the Reds.

La Liga giants Valencia are interested in taking out-of-favour Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori on a six-month loan deal when the winter transfer window opens again in January, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The highly-rated Portugal Under-21 international only joined the Reds from Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon during the summer, with Ilori agreeing a five-year deal on transfer deadline day last month for a fee of £7m.

However, the 20-year-old has found it impossible so far to break into the Merseysiders’ first team, with Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers preferring instead to utilise his more experienced centre-backs in defence.

And as a result, the London-born central defender has not even been seen in a Liverpool shirt so far this season, with Valencia now hoping to take advantage of Ilori’s lack of involvement with his new club by agreeing a short-term loan deal for the player in the new year.

The Spaniards themselves are set to lose experienced France international Adil Rami to Serie A giants AC Milan in the January window, which is why los Che are said to be so keen to bring Ilori to the Mestalla on loan until the summer.
