Italian giants to move for unsettled Gunner.
Serie A sleeping giants Inter Milan are lining up a January sweep for unhappy Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen, according to Sports Direct News.
The 27-year-old has featured just once in the side’s excellent start to the season having lost his place in the team last season through injury.
Despite being club captain he has fallen behind in the pecking order to the likes of Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, who have formed a strong partnership in the Belgian’s absence and he doesn’t look as though he will be breaking the duo up anytime soon.
According to reports in Italy, Inter are looking to strengthen their back line and will be hoping to convince Vertonghen to join them in a bid to resurrect his chances at making the Belgium squad for next summer’s World Cup.
Inter currently sit in fifth place in the Serie A table, finding for after their difficult campaign last term, but suffered a setback in last weekend’s 3-3 draw with Torino.
Vermaelen is currently valued at around £14m and though it’s generally accepted that he would be open to a move Arsene Wenger would not let him go without having a replacement lined up first.
