Chelsea playmaker on Moyes’ radar.
Manchester United manager David Moyes remains keen on signing out-of-favour Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata this January, according to Sports Direct News.
The 25-year-old has been one of the best players in the Premier League for the last couple of seasons, though he appears to have fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge this season following the return to the club of manager Jose Mourinho.
With Mourinho seemingly preferring Oscar in the number ten role in the team, Mata has spent a lot of time on the bench, and was also relegated to Capital One Cup duty this week as he scored a fine goal in a 2-0 win over Arsenal.
Mata remains admired throughout Europe, with the likes of PSG and Tottenham also keen on snapping him up when the transfer window re-opens at the turn of the year, though United are still desperate to sign a new midfield playmaker.
The Red Devils were linked with a host of big names throughout the summer following the retirement of the influential Paul Scholes, and Mata was one of the players said to be interesting United boss Moyes.
A swap deal involving Chelsea target Wayne Rooney has been mooted at points, and may enter into the deal again this January.
