West Ham Hopeful Of November Return For Andy Carroll

Co-chairman sees light at the end of the tunnel for troubled striker.

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has said that club-record signing Andy Carroll could be in line for a return to first team action by the end of November, talkSPORT reports.

Carroll has failed to take to the pitch once this season since completing his £15m move from Liverpool this summer, leaving the Hammers with a striker shortage so desperate they were forced to re-sign Carlton Cole on a three month deal, having released the player just months earlier.

The 24-year-old suffered a heel injury during the close season and as he was recovering he was dealt a further blow in September with another unrelated foot injury, thus keeping him out for another extended period of time.

The Hammers have scored just eight times so far this season, with three coming in one game, but Gold is hoping that the end of the drought is on the horizon as the England international is in line for a return at the end of the month, just in time for the busy festive period.

When asked about Carroll’s return from injury, Gold said: “I will be disappointed if he’s not back by the end of November.”
