Relegation-threatened outfit are currently propping up the table with just one win so far
Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace are interested in appointing Newcastle United head coach Alan Pardew as a replacement for the recently departed Ian Holloway as the south-east London club’s next manager, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
Holloway left his role at Selhurst Park last week by mutual consent following a 4-1 home loss to London rivals Fulham in the Premier League, and now following the Eagles’ latest reverse, against top-of-the-table Arsenal last Saturday, Palace find themselves rock bottom of the top flight after the opening nine matches of the season.
However, Palace co-chairman Steve Parish is understood to be keen to bring Pardew back to the club, although the 52-year-old’s seven-year contract at St James’ Park may make any move for the former Palace defender highly problematic to say the very least.
Pardew is somewhat under-pressure though, with some poor recent results for Newcastle, and it is thought that he would be interested in taking up a role with the Eagles.
Others names in the frame for the job are ex-Stoke City boss Tony Pulis, one-time Sunderland coach Martin O’Neill and current Wales manager and former Palace star Chris Coleman.
