Kevin De Bruyne Admits He May Need To Leave Chelsea

Blues youngster wants first-team football.

Chelsea youngster Kevin De Bruyne admits he may need to leave the club to gain more regular first-team football this January, according to Sky Sports.

The talented Belgian impressed whilst out on loan with Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen last season, but has since found it difficult to claim a spot in Chelsea’s starting lineup this season.

De Bruyne admits there is plenty of world class competition for places at Stamford Bridge, with the likes of Juan Mata, Eden Hazard, Oscar, Andre Schurrle and Willian also all vying for just three positions in Jose Mourinho’s attacking midfield.

The 22-year-old made it into the team for Chelsea’s 2-0 Capital One Cup win over Arsenal on Tuesday, and feels he played a good game, but is hungry for more action in the Premier League.

A loan move has been mooted as a possibility this January, with Werder Bremen said to be happy to take him back again, and other German clubs such as Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen also monitoring his situation.

De Bruyne would not comment on the speculation, but has said that he may need to think about a move when the transfer window opens again.

“To be honest, I haven’t thought about it yet. I know something has to change. Sooner or later, I will have to play,” he said.

“But what can I do at this moment besides training hard and keeping quiet? I feel really strong at this time – I think I have never been this fit before. I got a lot of support of family and friends who visit me over here.

“I work hard on training. The manager has told me I’m doing well, but everyone in the team wants to play.

“We’ve squad of 25 players. And if you look around, they’re all world class.”
