Etihad Stadium side target Goodison Park star.
Man City are said to be taking an interest in Everton left-back Leighton Baines as Manuel Pellegrini looks to bring in a more consistent option to strengthen his Etihad Stadium side according to Sports Direct News.
Pellegrini is unconvinced by the displays put in by Gael Clichy and Alelsandar Kolarov who have both failed to prove themselves in the position hence the Chilean’s interest in Toffees star Baines.
The Man City boss has money to spend in January and may look to beat Man United in the race to sign Baines, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for some months, with David Moyes failing with two summer bids for the 28 year old.
This source quotes a Man City ‘insider’ as stating;
“The manager doesn’t fancy Clichy or Kolarov. He has been extremely disappointed by them, especially Clichy of whom a lot more was expected this season.
“Left-back is the priority in January, although it probably won’t be the only acquisition. A move for Baines is not out of the question. It would elevate his profile in a World Cup year and we can offer Champions League football.
“You can expect a few changes when the transfer window opens because the away form is unacceptable. It is one of the worst records in the top flight.”
