Though Wenger can also call upon England man Carl Jenkinson in this regard it does seem he is leaning towards the need to bring in an alternative should Sagna leave, hence his long running interest in Man City’s Micah Richards.
De Sciglio is considered one of the hottest young prospects in Italian football and the youngster made 33 appearances in all competitions last term and has eight national team caps to his name and is very likely to be part of Cesare Prandelli’s 2014 World Cup finals squad.
A move for the Milan born defender would certainly adhere to Arsene Wenger’s youthful transfer policy and shouldn’t be a hugely costly signing to contemplate making in January.
