Boss Gerardo Martino is said to be looking at long term replacements for midfield veteran Xavi and whilst Ramires is not the same style of player as the Spanish international he certainly has a great deal to offer both going forward and also when in a more defensive midfield role.
Ramires is under contract until 2017 and appears settled at Stamford Bridge but the chance to move to join Barcelona may prove tempting though such a move could well be influenced by where the respective sides are standing in their domestic leagues come January.
Jose Mourinho will not want to lose Ramires, who has started all eleven of Chelsea’s Premier League fixtures this season, regardless of what offer his former employers make.
Ramires made a whopping 62 appearances in all competitions last season.
