The 28-year-old is out of contract with the Bundesliga side at the end of the season and has been mooted as a possible signing for Arsene Wenger’s men having been linked to the Emirates for a number of seasons now.
Southampton were also believed to be interested, but Diego claims that it is the north London outfit who are leading the charge to land his services.
Diego is said to be interested in a move to England, having already established himself as a solid player in Germany with Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen, and he has also spent time in Italy with Juventus and Spain with Atletico Madrid.
