Black Friday: Ten Premier League Players Who Could Be Available at Bargain Prices In January

10 players who could be made available ‘on the cheap’ when the transfer window re-opens.

Emmanuel Adebayor (Tottenham)

Tottenham will look to offload the Togo international for practically nothing just to have his massive wage bill wiped off the balance sheet. Indeed Man City would want that too as they are also still covering a portion of the forward’s reported £170k a week salary.

Joe Cole (West Ham)

West Ham veteran has struggled with injuries and Sam Allardyce appears keen to offload the midfielder who’s return to Upton Park has not quite panned out as he would have hoped.

Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal)

Arsenal man has been a spectator for much of 2013 with Arsene Wenger looking to use Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker and with a World Cup on the horizon the Belgian will surely be demanding an exit, perhaps a loan move, to help secure regular first team football he has so badly missed of late.

Anderson (Man United)

The Brazilian has used up all his chances at Old Trafford and David Moyes would surely accept any decent offers for the midfielder, who has struggled with his weight and serious form issues for much of the past three seasons.

Moussa Dembele (Tottenham)

Another Belgian who could see a lack of first team football affect his prominence in the national team squad next summer. Andre Villas-Boas has a vast number of central midfield options and the powerful former Fulham man may well be allowed to leave for the right price.

Demba Ba (Chelsea)

The Senegal international was probably close to leaving Chelsea over the summer but the loaning out of Romelu Lukaku meant that Jose Mourinho didn’t feel he could further compromise his striking options. However if the Blues sign a striker in January, which seems likely, then the former Newcastle United man will surely be on his way on the cheap.

Jack Rodwell (Everton)

The 22 year old has virtually no chance of playing regularly in Manuel Pellegrini’s first team given the vast array of talent ahead of the former Everton man in the Man City manager’s pecking order. Yaya Toure and Fernandinho have been the Chilean’s first choice midfield pairing so any offer for the England man may well be accepted.

Jermain Defoe (Tottenham)

Tottenham man has barely been used in Premier League action but has scored at will in cup action and desperately wants first team football so as to keep a foot in Roy Hodgson’s World Cup finals squad. Andre Villas-Boas spent near on £60m on Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado and is doggedly sticking with the duo and as such may accept nominal offers for Defoe to help balance the books.

Micah Richards (Man City)

Criminally underused the adaptable defender is seeing his career compromised on the Man City bench and whilst he is no doubt compensated well for his efforts there will come a time where the 25 year old realises his best years as a pro are being wasted away, perhaps in January he will demand an exit, one that Manuel Pellegrini will probably happily accept.

Nikica Jelavic (Everton)

Croatian started well at Everton but is now pretty much a back-up option for Roberto Martinez, who hasn’t selected the former Rangers man as a starter since September. Could do a very good job elsewhere and won’t cost the earth.
