Robin Van Persie Transfer Request: Five Best Potential Replacements for the Man United Striker

The five best replacement strikers for Robin Van Persie at Manchester United.

5. Stefan Kießling – Bayer Leverkusen

Despite turning 30 by the time the January transfer window comes to a close, the German striker still hasn’t lost his touch in front of goal, and if there ever was a time for him to move abroad and test himself elsewhere, then it is now.

After finishing last term as the Bundesliga’s top marksman with 25 goals, he has continued his fine form into the current campaign where he has already notched up nine strikes so far. Could provide a steady head as well as a deadly foot.

4. Giuseppe Rossi – Fiorentina

The American-born Italian international has matured greatly since he was last at Old Trafford, and has blossomed into one of Europe’s finest strikers in the process.

Having made his name at Villarreal, he is now proving that he can score goals in Serie A too, as his 12 goals in 16 games has meant that Fiorentina have managed to keep up their own European challenge once again. At 26, he is neither too young nor too old to shoulder the responsibility of replacing RVP’s boots and will feel as though he still has something to prove in Manchester.

3. Robert Lewandowski – Borussia Dortmund

The highly-rated Pole has confirmed that he will be leaving the former Bundesliga champions either in January or next summer when his contract expires. He has also confirmed that he has made his mind up over where he wants to go, but has stopped short of naming just where that may be.

There is still hope that he remains a realistic target for David Moyes, and should they manage to land his signature they will guarantee themselves an almost like for like replacement who not only has experience with the pressures at the top of the table, but of Europe too.

2. Luis Suarez – Liverpool

A player that was tentatively linked with a move to Old Trafford over the summer, but the move never got past the stages of idle speculation.

However, with the Uruguayan insisting on playing Champions League football next term, and the club desperate to acquire it, a move could go hand in hand, though United will have to fork out a considerable amount as not even Arsenal could tempt them to part with the 26-year-old with a £50m bid.

 1. Radamel Falcao – Monaco

Een though he only made the move to the Principality over the summer, he is reported to be unhappy with the standard of football in Ligue 1, and has already grown disillusioned at having to play in front of a half empty stadium at home.

Quick, strong, and with a clinical eye for goal, he would fit in at United like a missing puzzle piece and would be able to test himself at the very highest level week in week out. Monaco have already said he is not for sale, but if the player really wants to leave then United will be expected to be at the front of the line.
