Earlier this month it had emerged that Sagna was close to agreeing a new two-year deal with the Gunners and shunning a return to France with both PSG and Monaco looking to take him away from the Emirates Stadium.
The current Ligue 1 champions had been hoping to take advantage of the 30-year-olds contract situation in north London, but have seemingly now switched their attentions to Zabaleta after learning that Sagna was close to agreeing fresh terms with Arsenal.
The Argentine international has been one of City’s key figures over the past two seasons and has enjoyed a cult status at the Etihad for his dominant displays and his proclivity for scoring goals at crucial times.
City aren’t believed to be willing to entertain offers for the 28-year-old, but that is not likely to stop PSG from making an enquiry as their frightening financial clout has seen them snap up a number of high profile targets over the summer.
