The highly rated England international’s current deal with the Toffees now only runs until June 30 2016 and so the club are desperate for Barkley to agree an extension on that as soon as possible.
And it is understood that Everton are extremely confident that the 20-year-old will sign the improved contract that will see Barkley’s weekly wage packet rise to a whopping £50,000 before Christmas, which would further protect the club from rival suitors trying to lure the midfield player away from Goodison Park in the future.
Barkley, who is expected to be part of Three Lions head coach Roy Hodgson’s squad for next summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil, is currently enjoying another impressive campaign for Everton, with the Englishman having so far managed to find the back of the net on two occasions in his 15 Premier League outings for the club.
