It had been reported that the Portuguese coach had the chance to take over the reigns at Paris Saint Germain over the summer, but rejected the chance to replace Carlo Ancelotti in order to carry on at White Heart Lane.

However, reports in France have suggested that Marseille could be set to capitalise on his job situation by making him an offer of their own since sacking Elie Baup in early December after a string of poor results has virtually seen the club ruled out of the title race this season.

AVB was sacked by Spurs on Monday after another heavy defeat at the weekend, which was this time a 5-0 defeat at home to Liverpool.

A source close to Villas-Boas has said that he views his next destination is the French top flight. He is due an estimated £4.5m pay off from Spurs for his sacking, though, and will be in no rush to take a job that he doesn’t feel is right for him.
