The former Atletico Madrid ace joined the French big spenders over the summer in a deal worth £53m, but his future at the principality club has been the question of some heavy speculation recently.

Mourinho is still desperate to add some fresh option to his front line in the new year after failing to land Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney and seeing Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba all fail to reach their best form this term.

FC Porto’s Jackson Martinez is thought to be keen on a move to west London, but Mourinho is still holding hope that he can twist Falcao’s arm into joining him instead.

However, Mourinho’s former club Real Madrid have previously stated that they will make their own move for the Colombian international in the summer, so Chelsea will need to act fast if they hope to stave off the Spaniards.
