Who: Alvaro Morata

Where: Real Madrid

Why: Arsene Wenger has been making eyes at the young Spanish forward since the summer and has been tipped to make a move for him in the new year ahead of arch rivals Tottenham, who are also said to be monitoring his situation.

However, he is highly rated in the Spanish capital and coach Carlo Ancelotti is said to be reluctant to let him go. If a move were to go ahead it would likely be on loan until the end of the season with no further option to buy.

Who: Mario Mandzukic

Where: Bayern Munich

Why: Bayern seen to be implementing a continuous cycle of strikers at the Alianz Arena as Mandzukic was the man to displace German international Mario Gomez last season.

How Likely: 2/10

Who: Diego Costa

Where: Atletico Madrid

Why: The Brazilian-born Spanish international has been linked with a move to the Gunners even though Atletico are currently sitting on top of the La Liga table.

It’s not likely that he will make the move in the new year, if he does at all, as his side are currently in with a great shot at landing the title in Spain and he will want to keep himself in contention for a starting spot at this summer’s World Cup. It would take an astronomical fee to prize him away, which the club aren’t thought to want to pay.
