The Spaniards are looking to take advantage of the player’s bleak playing situation at Stamford Bridge and now Mata’s agent and father is due in for talks surrounding his future as Atletico hope to bring him in on loan with a view for a permanent deal.

However, Italian side Inter Milan are also said to be interested in a similar deal.

Palace Line Up Ba Move

Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis is lining up a loan move for unfancied Blues striker Demba Ba, the Daily Mirror reports.

Pulis almost signed the striker two years ago when he was in charge of Stoke City, but he failed the medical at the Britannia and now Pulis is ready to try again as he seeks reinforcements up front.

Palace already have Cameron Jerome on loan, but are looking to bring in more players to help aid their survival push.

Blues Dealt Blow In Guarin Pursuit

Chelsea have suffered a blow in the chase for one of their major January transfer targets after being told by Inter Milan that Fredy Guarin will not be sold this month, the Daily Express reports.

Rumours last week suggested that a deal for the Colombian international was almost complete, but the Serie A giants have now had a change of heart and decided that they don’t want to let him go yet.

Guarin himself has stated that though he is flattered by Chelsea’s interest he is more than happy to remain at the San Siro.

Benfica Ready To Negotiate For Matic

Portuguese giants Benfica have told Chelsea that they are ready to open negotiations over the potential sale of in demand midfielder Nemanja Matic, the Daily Mirror reports.

The Serbian international left Chelsea as part of the deal that saw David Luiz head the other way in 2011.

Benfica are also willing to listen to offers for the £12m rated Lazar Markovic as they look to dissipate some of the crippling debt that surrounds them.

Chelsea To Block Bertrand’s Liverpool Move

Chelsea are set to deny Liverpool the chance to sign full-back Ryan Bertrand as the west London side are not willing to let any more of their players leave for rival teams, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Blues loaned out attacker Victor Moses to the Merseyside outfit over the summer, and after a good start his progress there seems to have halted to a stop.

Bertrand is likely to be allowed to leave the club this month, though because of frosty relations between the two sides he may have to miss out on a switch to Anfield.
