Man United Target Five In £100m Spending Spree as David Moyes Offered Chance to Improve Squad

Old Trafford boss David Moyes backed by board with massive transfer war-chest.

Man United boss David Moyes will be handed a £100m transfer war-chest by the clubs owners as they seek to assist the Scot in his pursuit of major silverware despite a shocking start to his Old Trafford tenure.

The Daily Mail claims that Man United’s American owners will back Moyes whether he wants to sign players this month or in the summer with the Glazers clearly keen to offer the former Everton manager the chance to dig the club out of their current slump.

Moyes has earmarked moves for five top talents that he hopes to bring in to strengthen his Man United squad.

Chief among them would appear to be Atletico Madrid’s young midfielder Koke, who Moyes hopes to lure to the Premier League club in order to freshen up his somewhat brittle midfield.

The 21 year old has been in excellent form over the past 18 months and only Cesc Fabregas has provided more assists in La Liga action this term.

David Moyes’s pursuit of more midfield creativity and an extra goal threat will also see Man United continue their push to sign Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus.

The 24 year old German has been a huge hit since moving to the Westfalenstadion but having seen Jurgen Klopp’s side fall down the Bundesliga table and watched as first Mario Gotze and then Robert Lewandowsi opted to join domestic rivals Bayern Munich there is perhaps a chance the attacking midfielder would be considering his options.

David Moyes also wants Borussia Dortmund’s box to box performer Ilkay Gundogan perhaps in view of Marouane Fellaini’s inability to impress in a holding role that the Belgian was primarily used in before he was sidelined.

The Man United manager will also look to sign FC Porto’s rock solid centre-back Eilaqium Mangala as a potential long term replacement for Rio Ferdinand, with the 35 year old likely to retire when his current contract comes to a close at the end of the season.

Finally Moyes hopes to persuade Southampton to sell teenager Luke Shaw, who is seen as a viable replacement for Patrice Evra, with Man United’s ongoing pursuit of first choice target Leighton Baines hitting the buffers.

The 18 year old Saints star has impressed greatly since breaking into the Southampton first team and knows that a high profile move to Man United could well lead to a call up to the senior England set-up.
