The 25 year old Argentine initially struggled for form at Inter but has found his feet this term, scoring four goals as well as being the club’s leading assist maker this season.

Alvarez has interested Arsenal in the past and boss Walter Mazzarri will fight off advances for the former Velez Sarsfield man especially as fellow midfielder Fredy Guarin is also attracting interest this month.

Moyes’s current midfield options lack attacking invention or a goal threat and the likes of Anderson and Tom Cleverley may well be playing for their Man United futures after a series of very average displays.

Summer signing Marouane Fellaini failed to make an impact and was used primarily in a holding role before he suffered an injury set-back, fortunately for Moyes both Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher have returned to full fitness to offer alternative options.
