10. Rio Ferdinand

The former England man isn’t getting any younger, and for the money the club are still paying him they could bring in somebody else that will play twice as many games at a more consistent level.

His departure will be the end of another chapter at the club, but it was bound to end eventually, and what better time than the present?

9. Anderson

The Brazilian has had long enough to fulfil his potential at Old Trafford, and after a bright start his star has now faded and the club should now cash in on his resale value, which despite everything will still be relatively high.

He almost encapsulates how mediocre this current United side are, and for that alone he should be moved on, and with former club Porto rumoured to be interested a return to his former club could be the spark he needs to reignite his career.

8. Javier Hernandez

The diminutive Mexican should probably leave for his own benefit more than anything else. He has never been wildly prolific, but 55 goals in 138 appearances for the club suggest that he knows where the net is, and another club in desperate need of some more firepower would gladly appreciate his services.

He is currently seeing his place with the Mexican national team under threat, which will set alarm bells ringing in a World Cup year, and if he is not going to start regularly then the club should look to spend the money they get for him on someone who will.

7. Fabio

Both he and twin brother Rafael were set to be a part of the new wave of talent at United, however, where the man on the right has excelled Fabio has stuttered.

Having spent the majority of last season on loan with Queens Park Rangers, he is behind Rafael in terms of development by some 60 appearances and it seems as though he would be best served somewhere else. Still a capable full-back with a lot to learn, he is perhaps not what United need right now, but there is no doubt that he will have an accomplished career away from Old Trafford.

6. Shinji Kagawa

Kagawa’s signing was heralded as a masterstroke by the footballing world, but in reality it has been a disaster from the start. Sometimes a moment of fleeting brilliance will offer United fans hope that he is not a lost cause, but those moments are too few and far between and it is looking more and more unlikely that he will be a hit at the club.

Often linked with a return to the Bundesliga, he should consider making the move back in order to save his career (and his credibility) before he wastes away on the United bench.

5. Nani

The Portuguese international is still very much able to play a part in the club’s season, but it will perhaps not be the part either of them want. Like Anderson, his influence and his future no longer look as bright as they once did and a move away could be beneficial for both player and club.

Often linked with a move to Juventus, he may thrive in a league where the pace of football is slower than the Premier League and at the age of 27 he is no longer a bright star for the future. His peak is arriving and he needs to make the most of it.

4. Alexander Buttner

The Dutchman could very well be one of the best left-backs in the world, only we will never find out because he can’t get off United’s bench, and like Hernandez a move away will probably be more beneficial for him than it would be for the club.

Rumour has it that Patrice Evra is on his way out, and Buttner will be hoping to take his place, but with the club’s continued pursuit of both Leighton Baines from Everton and Fabio Coentrao of Real Madrid a future for him as the side’s first choice on the left seems bleak.

3. Patrice Evra

The temperamental Frenchman has been an outstanding player for the club, but now that he is on the wrong side of 30 his ability to do his job at a similarly consistent level will only start to falter.

With the standard of other left-backs that the club are supposedly targeting then the writing is surely on the wall already and should he leave he will most likely head for a golden handshake with former club Monaco before hanging up his boots.

2. Bebe

Where to start? To put it plain and simple he is just not good enough to be a Manchester United player. He was signed under bizarre circumstances and has managed to make a grand total on seven appearances in four years at the club whilst spending the rest of his time on loan with obscure small sides in Portugal.

Currently with Pacos de Ferrera where he has scored only two goals all season, the sooner United can get him off their books the better. All that he can hope for now is that he can live off his reputation as a former Manchester United player and earn himself a move to a semi decent side.

1. Ashley Young

Whilst at Aston Villa Young was one of the most exciting players in the country and after four years in the West Midlands many believed that he was finally ready to make the step up to play with the biggest side in the country and cement his place in the England side.

However, all the good work he did in claret & blue has been undone by two seasons of diving, ropey performances and injury, resulting in him being one of the most derided and ridiculed players that the club have had in the Premier League era.

Still a great player on his day, there is a chance that United is perhaps too big for him and a move elsewhere would kick start his career and earn the club a few pounds in the process.
