The Old Trafford side have begun talks with the Argentine’s representatives and will look to land the midfield general this month, though the success of such a move could depend on whether the Premier League side are ready to offer Mexican international Javier Hernandez as part of the deal.

Valencia want to land the Man United striker but with both Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney currently sidelined there could be an issue with the possible sale or loaning out of Chicharito, though Danny Welbeck has hit a good run of form and has been ably assisted by youngster Adnan Januzaj.

Banega has demanded a Mestalla exit and is keen to secure a move to Man United, where he would hand Moyes some much needed creativity to his rather brittle midfield.

Yesterday the pairing of Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick worked wonders to overcome Swansea City but neither players offers a great deal in the final third, the same can be said of Tom Cleverley, Anderson and Marouane Fellaini, who has been used in a holding role since moving to Man United last summer.

Banega moved to Valencia back in January 2008 and is widely considered one of the most talented players in La Liga but with his side struggling for form there appears a strong possibility the attacking midfielder would look to leave the club in order to retain a prominent role in the Argentine national team set-up ahead of the 2014 World Cup finals in the summer.
