Perhaps unsurprisingly it’s striking talents that dominate the list of players Arsene Wenger has placed on this shopping-list, targets which vary in terms of their likelihood of seeing completion in either January of in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal are apparently in talks with Real Madrid youngster Alvaro Morata with this source stating that a permanent switch would cost the North London club around £9m with a loan deal perhaps suiting all concerned.

The 21 year old Spaniard is considered one of the hottest prospects in Europe but has fallen behind Jese Rodriguez as Carlo Ancelotti’s back-up to Karim Benzema.

Morata could offer Wenger some much needed short term relief to his striker crisis, which has seen Olivier Giroud rushed back from illness with Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott both out injured.

FC Porto forward Jackson Martinez is perhaps a move longer term solution to the lack of striking options at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are apparently ready spend big on Colombian Martinez, who is said to have a £33.2m buyout clause in his current contract.

Martinez has proven himself in the Primeira Liga, netting 38 goals in 44 domestic league fixtures, and will be ready to consider a ‘step-up’ to the Premier League where his strength and physical presence could make him a real threat.

Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov is another on Wenger’s wish-list and another who could only be seen as a short term option though the former Tottenham man certainly fits the bill in terms of the style of play the Arsenal boss likes his players to adopt.

The 32 year old would cost only £2m and though the Bulgarian would only be offered a one year deal, as is Gunners club policy it’s a move that would surely tempt the Craven Cottage veteran.

Proven Premier League marksman with 122 goals garnered from his time at Tottenham, Man United and Fulham.

Julian Draxler is a player who adheres to Arsene Wenger’s youthful transfer policy but it’s a move that would cost a hefty sum with the Schalke man tied down to a long term deal that includes a £37.5m release clause.

A move for the 20 year old is perhaps more likely in the summer given that Schalke are still involved in Champions League action.

Mario Mandzukic is another forward on Arsenal’s radar and the Croatian may well be considering his options knowing that his first team spot will be under threat when Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski arrives in the summer.

The 27 year old has been a big success since moving to the Allianz Arena but will surely not be keen on an extended run on the bench which seems likely when Pole Lewandowski arrives on the scene.
